Celebrating Spring

I can never understand why February is considered to be the beginning of Spring, it's still cold and dark and feels nothing like Spring. This past week however felt exactly like the beginning if Spring, all of a sudden being woken at 6 wasn't so bad because it was starting to get bright. Coming home from work in daylight makes a hugely welcome change and thankfully the days were milder, we got to go outside without thermal layers and after a winter of cabin fever the children were delighted to rediscover all there is to do outside.

There are daffodils opening everywhere
And the crocus' that we planted in November are popping up too

I even think that the fairies may have returned home from their winter in the sun!
Another reason that I love March is it is the birthday of our second eldest daughter.

She turned 6 on Wednesday and although, due to very busy work schedules, we didn't have our usual party, we celebrated with a trip to the cinema followed by pizza in the Italian last Sunday. On her actual birthday she was treated to breakfast in bed courtesy of Daddy and for the non chocolate lover I baked a special carrot cake which was a big hit.
It's been a brilliant start to March and we are full of plans for the year ahead on the farm. We are looking forward to the arrival of the first cria ( baby Alpaca) at the end of April, our Alpaca duvets and pillows should arrive towards the end of March and our vegetable patch will be given some much needed attention in the coming days and weeks.
I'm off out now to enjoy some much needed sunshine, hope you get to enjoy some too😊

    1. It tasted pretty yummy too...she takes after her Mum, more savoury than sweet taste so not always easy to choose a cake for!
