Alpacas on Tour

Last weekend Paul, the kids and 4 of our friendly Alpacas headed of to Roscommon to the annual Lamb Festival. Paul was delighted to have been invited to bring them along and he takes a huge amount of pleasure in talking to people about Alpacas

The festival was fantastic, so many great activities for adults and children, but the idea that I was most fascinated by was the 'Fleece to Piece' activity, this was where fleece was spun in the morning and an item was made with it in the afternoon and people were encouraged to take part and make small items themselves, it was the crafting version of ' farm to fork'!!
I was working on the Saturday so only made it down on Sunday but had a great day. We have had fleece from our own Alpacas processed and so have yarn and blankets and some baby clothing,we also have Alpaca merchandise such as teddy's ( complete with knitted hoodies!!) and story books so my job on the day was manning the stall. I was both surprised and delighted by the level of interest that the Alpacas generated and they were on their very best behaviour and the star of the show was Seve who performed his favourite trick of kissing on many an unsuspecting child!!
I will definitely be putting the festival in my diary for next year and will ensure I am off to enjoy the full weekend and as a family event I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

  1. We travelled up from Cork to the Lamb Festival and we met you and your husband early in the morning. I was very impressed with how friendly and knowledgeable you both were. The kids were talking for the day about how they got to feed the alpacas and I was delighted to learn of Irish Alpaca Yarn :-)

I can imagine it was a huge effort for you and your family to go to the show and I just wanted to say well done, and thanks!
